Spring Break
So spring started last saturday. I was at a conference in Orlando. It was ok, for student ambassadors. The monday, tuesday and thursday of my break consisted of work. But that's cool, cause I'm making money and I get to do cool stuff with bacteria. I'm currently working on a project with 87 different strains of bacteria that we got by exposing half to mars conditions and half to earth conditions. They were sent off to sequence and now i'm looking for the changes in the mutation. it's really cool what i'm doing because we are finding new mutations in the rpoB gene that haven't been seen before. pretty much this means that i'm going to be published soon with astrobiology research. that totally rocks my world.wednesday i gave a campus tour and since it was break i got 10 dollars cash sub rosa. I also worked on my undergrad research for Jon and smelled like fish as a result. I also worked on my Marine Ecology project with Krystle. yay looking for tiny tiny barnacles on tiles. woo hoo.
Anyway, so now I'm in Gainesville. I've made plans to meet with the Microbiology Department tomorrow and rather than drive to Gainesville and back to Melbourne in one day, I'm staying the night. Updates on what happens tomorrow will be coming after tomorrow occurs.
I'm out.
