Something fun I found
Storm ~ 59% Water ~ 74% Wind ~ 66% Earth ~ 81% Fire ~ |
And the storm rushes in But it makes me feel like I'm alive again...
Hey, nice. It seems your personality is mostly balanced. You are likely intelligent, ambitious, and reasonable.
However, if you ever feel like you are rushing too much and not quite in tune with the world around you, try wearing an Azurite. It inspires patience, kindness and intuition and thus helps balance out your somewhat shy Heart Chakra which is associated with the element of water and represents our sense of love and compassion.
These are the results you will get if you score highly on...
None of the four elements: Balance Wind: Gust Fire: Blaze Water: River Earth: Valley Wind & Fire: Thunder Wind & Water: Clouds Wind & Earth: Canyon Fire & Earth: Lava Fire & Water: Tornado Water & Earth: Trees Wind, Fire & Earth: Storm Wind, Fire & Water: Stars Wind, Water & Earth: Forest Fire, Water & Earth: Avalanche All four elements: Harmony

Classes start!
Things have really been flying along nicely. Classes started yesterday and it looks like this year is going to be interesting in both good and bad ways. The classes are going to be interesting but they are going to be hard as hell. I've got Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy with Dr. Morris. Dr. Morris is a fun guy, but his exams suck ass. Plus the lab is going to be just like Invertebrate Zoology only 10 times worse. Gah, I hate memorization. Our first lab even occurred, as in, we had a lab to do, and we'll have a lab quiz on the information next lab meeting! I'm going crazy already. Marine Biology with Dr. Turner is going to be fun. Nearly every lab meeting is going to be out in the field. I've heard that it's really hard to keep up with the lab notebook notes but I think I might actually be good at something like that. Mammalian Physiology is probably going to be my easiest class, which is sad. Dr. Grace is an awesome guy andI although I've heard his tests for this class tend to disable your writing hand, I've had Pathophysiology and Pharmacology at GHAMAS, this can't be much different.
I'm also taking Limnology which is looking to be a really cool lecture. It seems to be Community Ecology all over again but that's okay. If I've already heard the information, it should be easier to remember. My only fear is the stories I've heard of how the professor hates biology students (the class is in another department, DMES) and how his tests are super hard. As in, he'll spend three days on a subject and the essay question will be on a point he mentioned for two minutes. Joy. Limnology is also one of my wierd classes where I'm in class with graduate students. The undergrad and grad version of the course are taught at the same time. Supposedly the only difference is the test version. Hmmmm. My last class is Modeling for Ecology and Biology. This one scares me. It's going to be fun, and I can't wait to learn the material, but oh my god, I have to learn to program. To top it all off, our term paper is a 'program' that we think of, write ourselves that can help out our own research in some way. I'm so freakin scared. MatLab is scary. Please help
On a more positive note, I took a chance and asked Dr. Grace if he knew anything about Astrobiology. On a whim. I am so glad I asked. Apparently people at NASA want to start a program with Florida Tech biology students in Astrobiology. All they need are interested students. I asked at the perfect time! So now Dr. Grace has become my unofficial grad school advisor and is getting me in contact with the people up at KSC. If I'm lucky, grad school will be paid for and I'll get to do Astrobiology AND have an
in in the field. I've determined that God exists. If not then I can't explain why all this summer I've kept hearing about Astrobiology topics when I had made up my mind to give it up and pursue Marine Biology. I'm so thrilled!!!!
That's enough for now, I've got to wash dishes, although I could do that tomorrow. But I'm psyched! Maybe I'll read a bit in my textbooks. That couldn't hurt. And clean up my room.
G'Night!
ORIENTATION!!!
I am so thrilled to be back on campus!!! Cheryl and I are living in Southgate Apartments this year and until I saw the apartment I didn't realize how much they rock! My bedroom is probably about the same size or bigger than the one I have at home. I also have a walk-in closet that I plan on donating for storage space for the sorority. I do NOT need that much space. Unfortunately I still have not finished moving my stuff in. I JUST brought my hangars out of the storage area so now I can finally unpack my suitcases and hang up my clothes. My bed is made. YAY! And, my desk is nearly set up to my liking. I even have a tv in my room this year. Sweet.
Tomorrow is going to be exciting. Freshman move in tomorrow and I have just spent the past two days getting ready for them. The PPL team this year is really awesome. We set up the gym in three hours including Welcome Dinner tables and all the sign in desks. Seeing my old boss from Clemente was kind of awkward but he let me lead the group in laying down floor covering and taping since I had done all that for the job. No hard feelings there, which is good. There is a new Health and Wellness room in Clemente that was being constructed last semester and is finally finished and it totally rocks! There are two massage chairs that give you five minutes of massage for just a dollar! I'm totally spending time there. There are also five anti-gravity chairs, each with an MP-3 player so you can relax and listen to music. It totally rocks.
Training has gone really well so far and it's been really nice to get back in touch with all of my friends that I haven't seen since April! Everyone also likes my haircut, which is awesome too. I was surprised when I found out who had been reading this blog that I didn't know about. Please people, comment!!!!!
Anyway, Freshman and new students (transfers and graduates) come in tomorrow so it'll be a busy day. I'm excited beyond belief. I think this orientation will be one of the best yet. I enjoy having Sara Mayer and Melissa leading it. They've really done a great job.
Cheryl is finally here so we are going to have an awesome time in the apartment. Now, I must go hang clothes, take a shower and head to bed for Move-In!!!!
Music: Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban soundtrack. Gotta love the recorder melody.
Time spent with the OTHER guy in my life
That's right. I have two guys that occupy my time....lol. Granted, only one of them's human.....
I was so happy this morning. I called Sears to see if I had to go in. At the time they said no, but like always I told them, I'll be waiting. So I go back to sleep and since I woke up at 11 am with no phone call I figured YES, I'm good for the day! I went for my morning run, which felt awesome, then jumped into the pool to cool off. Mom and I mixed up a lemon juice concoction that I put in my hair to help advance the highlighting effects of the sun on my hair. So I sat out and enjoyed the sun. Then I headed out to the barn to ride Clyde.
Riding was WONDERFUL. It's been at least a year since I've been on a trail ride and that's what I did today. The forest was nice and cool and Clyde was so excited to be out in the woods. I truly enjoyed myself. I took my time cooling Clyde off and making sure he got liniment on his hocks and fetlocks.
I drove home, thinking of all the lovely things I was going to do with my evening. I even planned a nice piece of artwork that I was going to start on my computer. Instead, I pull into the driveway only to find that I've been called into work by Sears and my mother said yes. ARRRGGHHHH.
Hence there followed a rush to the shower since I was sweaty, stinky and covered in horse dirt due to the fact that Clyde
loves to rub his face on my back. With no dinner I headed to the mall. To top it all off, I had to meet with my manager and explain why my credit application rate is so low. I hate it. At least I was in the tool department. That was the only good thing. So I came home, at 10pm, rummaged for dinner (2 frozen egg rolls, my brother's stash) and watched tv.
The best part of my night right now.... talking to Eric on the phone and listening to him read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The best part of the book. When the Weasley twins get revenge on Umbridge. Sweet, sweet revenge.
By the way, has anyone else noticed that Jack the Pirate is Willy Wonka and his father is a dentist named Saruman?
Night all.
