Birthday Wish List

Because I hate it when people ask me what I want for my birthday and I can never think of things off the top of my head, and I'd rather be surprised and give you a choice from a list, I've compiled a list of things that would be cool to have for my birthday. (Hint: it's in October and on a day labeled '9') Here it is, in order of preference:

My mother (she's coming down anyway, so I know I'm getting that!)
A subscription to Astrobiology, and online Journal. Student subscription is fine, I work better with online acess anyway
Alcoholic Paraphernalia (this IS my 21st birthday guys and I have no stock)
The movie Eulogy
A ceramic hair straightener (I know the brand Chi works really well with my hair)
My own WoW account (although I believe this is taken care of, but i'm not supposed to know about it)
US region encoded version of Danny Deckchair (I have an Australian coded version, but I can only watch it so many times before my laptop is permanently set to a specific region and I prefer the region to be US)

I can't think of anything else. If you think I might want something not on this list, I'll probably like it. Don't think of this as an exclusive "these are the only things I want". I'm fairly relaxed when it comes to gifts, in fact, if you get me a card and say Happy Birthday on a whim, I'll probably be totally thrilled with that. Anyway. There it is.

CVA AAAAHHHHHH

Here I am sitting in the Student Ambassador Office, doing my office hours, which I feel obligated to help with since I'm not giving a tour this semester :-( I took my first CVA lab practical last night and what a fiasco that was. Our class was split up into 2 groups. One went at 6 pm, the second at 7:30 pm. I had put my name down for the 7:30 time slot since I had Marine Biology Lab that usually doesn't get out until 6 pm. However, lab yesterday was cancelled due to the possibility (again) of hurricane weather. So far, Marine Bio Lab for the wednesday group has only met every other week. Anyway, since lab was cancelled I was granted an extra 4 hours of study time that I didn't think I was going to have. So I studied. At 7:00 I left for the Bio building. 7:30 rolls around and NO ONE has left from the 6 pm group. 7:45, one or two people have finally left. 8 pm, we are let in to the labs to take the practical. Thank goodness for a word bank. I finally got out of the practical at 10 pm last night which was way not cool since I hadn't had dinner. The TAs really need to change the set up of the practical. They should have two different nights instead of one night, two sessions. Give a different practical, it will make it less rushed and more convenient for everyone concerned. ARgh. I unwound last night by playing WoW. That was nice.

So now today I had Limnology in the morning. I decided to take a new tactic on the staying awake saga and brought coffee and breakfast to eat during class. I don't know if it worked because we didn't have lecture, we watched some really hokey movies made by UF about Florida Lakes. I'll try it again next week.

So now I am in my office hour on the second floor of the SUB with my Roast Beef sandwich, talking to Sarah from Maine about how to be evil with the guys in Eric's apartment on my birthday weekend when she visits. This is gonna be fun.

Speaking of birthday, my next post is gonna be a birthday wish list.

It's gonna be a crazy week

So tomorrow(technically today) starts the first crazy two weeks of the semester. I have three exams and a lab practical to take. Exam 1? CVA lab practical wednesday evening. I have been studying, and in the process of filling out the handouts, I think I will do okay, especially with a word bank. I love word banks! I should go to bed soon.
I've just spent the past 5 hours sitting with CVA material in the Olin Engineering Lounge studying with Melissa and Karen. Dan came a little later and it was fun.

An update on things that have been happening:

Marine Biology lab totally rocks. We go out every week to some ocean side location and take notes about all the organisms we see. We also have to draw them. I think that because I am a decent artist that things are easy for me to write down and draw. I've gotten really good grades on all of my lab notebooks so far, and I've always heard that it's hard to get good grades. Woot!

My quest to be an Astrobiology major is going quite well. I have made contact and am in the process of making further contacts. YAY!

CVA in general is cool but I believe that the tests are still going to suck. End of story.

Modeling is going excellently! Can you believe it? I'm learning how to use MatLab!!! Wow, I feel so computer savvy.

All in all, the general consensus so far into the semester is:
I love Eric
I <3 Phi Sig
I <3 sleep
I need more sleep
SunTrust should pull their heads out from their ass
MatLab is not evil
Sleep is wonderful

With that, I am off to bed.
