4 days till Spring Break!

That's right, you heard me, Spring Break starts as of class end on Friday and I am thrilled! Not only do I get to work EVERY day M-F from 4-8 pm at Clemente, I also get to do school work such as collect fish for my research project and tan. Hmm, that would be a mix of sarcasm and actual excitement. Sorry for any confusion ;-) I've got loads of crazy stuff to do this week and not much of it is schoolwork. One interesting point, I am playing the drums for College Player's production of Twelfth Night. I've never been percussion before....wait...nevermind that's wrong. I've played the gong for the middle school orchestra when I was in high school. It was recently Homecoming at Florida and I'd like to say congrats to College Players which won Homecoming overall as well as King and Queen. Hurray for Student Ambassadors (SA) for their 2nd place in the float contest in the parade especially since they beat CP which got 3rd place. In case that seems wierd, I painted a large part of the SA float.
BTW, I am listening to "The Homecoming Queen's got a Gun" random little thing from Dr. Demento, awesome stuff.

TGIF

Well classes are done for today though I have to say that I only went to one lecture today and my lab. This would be due to the lab report that was due today in Molluscan Aquaculture. What complete bs. None of us had no idea what to write for it and I personally had no time to find sources and when I did look, I couldn't find any. This week sucked. Next week is going to just as hard in a different way. I don't have much to do but everything is packed from wake until sleep. This upcoming week is Homecoming! As exciting as that may be, I have to do a lot of stuff for it and once it's over I will be extremely happy.
This weekend should be fun though. Tonight I have Bio Bowl 3 followed by a Phi Sigma Sigma meeting. Our chapter consultant is here visiting to help us with colonization. So that should be fun. After that I have two choices of activities, the PIKE's Ladies Night or going out to dinner and a movie with a whole bunch of friends. I'm leaning toward the movie. I don't really feel like getting drunk at the PIKE house.
Saturday I've got float construction/retreat with Student Ambassadors. Apparently I'm their resident artist so I get to draw everything for the float. It's a Key West theme so I have to draw Duval Street on a 6 ft2 canvas and paint the southernmost point. Keeping in mind, I've never SEEN any of these things. After that I have a private meeting with Fiona the chapter consultant about how to be an effective Scribe. Once that's finished I've got to go to a Panhellenic Social and be all dressed up and pretty. Later that night I get to drive a bunch of rich people around in golf carts back to their cars after they've paid $125 a head for this dinner thing at the gym. Something called Fusion in Fabric.
Sunday is another busy day. The Tri-Beta e-board is taking a trip to Forever Florida and we're touring the whole place. We're going on a swamp buggy tour, eating lunch with the owner, checking out the campsites for next year and going horseback riding!!! That's the one thing that I'm really excited about!!!
Somewhere in there, I need to write a draft of my Sigma Xi proposal and write an informational Speech for my speech class and get a plant physiology lab report written for Thursday. What fun.
Well, I need to get dressed up for my meeting at 5 so that's all for now.

I was groped by a Manatee!

Today has been extremely long yet very fun! Long because I got up extremely early but fun because it was our annual Blue Springs State Park trip! The people who went: Eric, Melissa, Cheryl, Erin, Gretchen, two of Erin's friends and myself. It was awesome! The air temperature when we got in the water was probably around 60-65 degrees but the water temperature was 72. We snorkeled up from the water entry point to the spring head where we played around in the water for a while. During this time the manatees came up to the spring head with us. There were about 7 with us, including a calf and it's HUGE mother. The cow was extremely curious and proceeded to weave in and out of our legs. This was a major feat as she was about 10 feet long and 4 feet or more across her midsection. I found it all amusing although the park patrol was out in force making sure the manatees weren't harrassed. Luckily, because we were just observing and the manatees were coming up to US, we didn't get yelled at. Yay!

I drove there and back and then took a wonderful nap while Eric took down the desktop computer he had let me borrow. Thank you Eric! BUT, my laptop is back! Hurray, and it is fixed which is a wonderful thing for me. I love my nice screen and the now awesome storage space I've got again. The computer people replaced my harddrive, fan, heat sink and something else to do with the harddrive but I don't know what it is. All I know is that my computer is happy.

Eric has gotten me hooked on World of Warcraft. I can't believe that I'd let myself get sucked into this game but I did. Now I have two characters on opposing sides. I'm such a sucker.

On February 7th Eric and I celebrated our one year anniversary! It's been such a wonderful year with him and I'm so happy! To celebrate I made heart pasta that I've had for a while and cooked up some shrimp scampi to go with it. It was a good meal, especially being made in Columbia Village.

Well, now it's time to go back to writing my lab report for Community Ecology. I need to have a rough draft done by tonight if I want my GSA to read it over and edit it for me.
