Computers are dumb yet necessary...

Why me??? yup, that seems like a good start. WHY ME???? My laptop fried (i think i might have mentioned that previously) and thankfully Eric is letting me borrow a desktop (WITH NO MICROSOFT WORD OR EXCEL) Grrrrrr. Either way, this semester is going to be crazy. My brain is fried and I have no classes today, so I'm just going to stop here. Maybe i'll post more later.

PHI SIGMA SIGMA!!

Today and yesterday has been both good and bad. Yesterday, my harddrive crapped out on me. IMy computer froze, then made a clicking sound, starting working again, froze and clicked again then tried to reboot and found a corrupted/missing file. NOT COOL. So now my hard drive has been removed from my laptop and Ben Pepper is attempting to remove the files I need. Currently, Eric has graciously provided me with one of his 4 desktops so I have a computer to use, Thank God.
This worries me greatly because all of my writing is saved on that laptop and without it I'll have to start from scratch for a 27 page story. NOT COOL. Plus, the computer I'm using doesn't have Word so I've installed Lotus Smart Suite so I at least have a word processor and an excel type program. Why me?

On a definite positive note....
Phi Sigma Sigma had informational meetings last night and interviews today and I got a bid!!!! I'm so excited. Tomorrow, Erin, Cheryl and I will be going to a day full of events and ceremonies to become sisters in the colony of Phi Sigma Sigma. It was great tonight! Girls from our sister colony in Nova Southeastern came to our apartment to hand us our bids!! I can't wait till tomorrow. Erin, Cheryl and I went through our closets to figure out what to wear! We were such girls. Well, I'm going to go join the other occupants of the apartment for some games of Poker.

Yay Stargate and Atlantis both started their new season tonight!!!! Ooooooh, a Samantha Carter Replicator that is immune to the Asgard/Ancient Technology meld. And she wants to take over the GALAXY!!!!!! Lol, I'm such a geek.

I should not hold cuvettes with Copper Sulfate

Well, I tried to post yesterday but Blogger decided to crap out on me and not publish my thing. Grrrrr. Anyway. Good day, good day, good couple of days. You are now reading the blog of FIT's new VP of student government. Holy crap I go from being anti-SG to being VP. They will NOT get me voted into e-board next year. No way Jose.

I've decided that I'm going crazy. Well, not yet but I will be soon. I just printed out my finalized schedule, that is permament. Three days a week I am up at 5:30 am to be at Clemente for the 6-9 am shift. Ick, this is gonna suck. At least it's not four days a week, like these past two weeks. Bed time is officially 9 pm.

Yesterday I went out to lab for Community Ecology in Turkey Creek Sanctuary. So cool! Our first lab was in the field! We'll be back again next week. I'm so excited. Even after crawling through vines and bushes with thorns, I'm excited. Today my lab for Plant Physiology was fun, even though Knox and I got done last. We decided that I should not try to pick up cuvettes when doing spectrophotometry. I knocked over the damn little things about 7 times, and there were only 5 of the suckers! Copper Sulfate EVERYWHERE. But not on me thankfully.

Hurray Phi Sigma Sigma is here! I'm going to the meeting in an hour to make sure they know I want to join. This is really wierd, looking back at what I do. I'm in the major organizations on campus (College Players, Student Ambassadors, Student Government) and will soon become a "sorority girl". But don't worry, Amy will still be Amy. Amazingly enough, I like being the social person that I've become at college. It's so nice to be able to walk across campus and recognize about 90% of the students, saying hi to 75% of those. My god, I feel POPULAR. It's such a strange feeling. But I love it. I have so many friends, and none of them care if I'm smart, or like to read science fiction and fantasy, or doodle everywhere. They just accept me for me. I'm so glad I'm here.

Yay for general feeling of contentness!!!!!! Time for dinner.

Blogger is annoying

So, all the times below this post are incorrect by like three hours. Just to let you know. And probably the one above this one since the times are gonna be screwed up. I found the setting for time zone and it changed ALL of the times that were posted even though I had manually changed them at the time of each posting. Also, sorry for the dual information, i didn't think blogger had posted either of the posts about community ecology lab. So frustrating.

Community Ecology funness

Finally, a lab class that meets outside on the FIRST DAY OF LAB! Turkey Creek Sanctuary to be exact. After avoiding a narrow scrape of being in a lab group with Brady and Meghan, and NOT being in a lab group with Knox, I am happy. We spent 2.5 hours crawling through lots of plants, getting dirty and just having fun being outdoors. Hooray I can identify some plants now! Like Saw Palm, Sabal Palm, Laurel Oaks, Red Maples, Hackberry's and Live Oaks. Not too bad today, it looked like it was thinking of raining when we left, but it didn't. We stayed dry and fairly warm considering it was 45 degrees this morning! BRRRRRR Why does Florida get this cold? It's not fair.

So far this week's been nuts. And the bus company is making me MAD! No busses available for the Tri-Beta Everglades Camping trip. Not cool. So now we carpool. This time, it WON'T rain. No. The weather must cooperate. I order it to be so. Well, I'm gonna go work on compiling the ecology data to send to the prof, cause I volunteered.

Yay, I like the soundtrack to The Time Machine. Klaus Badelt rocks my world. (Hint: PotC composer)

Ranting at both Blogger and Authors

I had this wonderful rant going on, written quite well if I might say so myself. Until Blogger decided that it was going to publish the title and date only. ARRGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!
Let's see if I can sum up what I HAD written, frustration won't be as evident, and no one will get my point, so what is the point? It was so moving!!! Here it is:
I hate authors when they end a book without solving the problem. So far my two favorite authors have done this, one even went so far as to write a prequel after ending his last book with a cliffhanger. *shakes fist at Terry Goodkind and Robert Jordan* Plus, it'll take another year and a half before the next book comes out and I'll have graduated college by then. Just for reference, I started the series in MIDDLE SCHOOL. ARRGGHHHHHH! The torture is incomprehensible.

The rain fits my mood perfectly

Well, today started out great. I had everything planned out, when I was going to do stuff, I even got to sleep late considering I didn't have to work the 6-9 am shift at the Clemente Center like I have for Monday thru Thursday. All my plans went awry when I mistakenly thought that my Aquaculture lab started at 3 pm when in fact it started at 2 pm. I get most of my errands done from 2-2:30, bike back to my room only to get a text message from my roommate wondering where I am cause lab started. So I bike frantically to the Aquaculture lab only to find that they've just finished so I need to come in on Monday to make up the lab. Generally Mondays, but this Friday REALLY sucks.

So now, back in my room, I'm really hoping people want to go to the movies cause I don't think I could stand today anymore unless I do something happy. Got to get TONS of reading done, as well as some minor homework. GRRRRR. What a horrible way to end the week. And the on and off downpours are not helping me feel better. Ick.

First Week!

Well, the first week of school is almost over. As of this time tomorrow, it will be over, and what a week it's been. Crazy schedule already. We had labs start right away, except for Community Ecology but next week we start off in the field!! I'm so excited.

Okay, so a rundown of classes...in order that I take them in the day.
Molluscan Aquaculture - really cool looking class, however before we can start growing molluscs, we have to learn how to raise algae, shouldn't be a problem for me, just look at my fish tank in my bedroom.
Speech - gonna be an easy class, hopefully an easy A, with a professor that is technically my sister with Delta Psi Sigma. But anyway, I'm one of three people who isn't required to take the class.
Plant Physiology - gonna be awesome, it's with my biochem prof who I loved! I seem to be the only one at this school that can actually learn and do well with him. So, no problems for me there.
Community Ecology - seems cool, lab is in the field but I have no idea what kind of workload he'll be expecting from us. Crazy English accented professors....

Not on my schedule, yet a class I am also taking, is Undergraduate Research. SO EXCITED!!! Unfortunately Shenker is a lazy bum and doesn't answer my emails. Next step, lay siege to his office.

Really cool news: I'm getting personal training from Clemente! At a discount cause I work there! 10 bucks for an hour of private training. Wooo hoo! Goal, drop 7% body fat. I'm not gonna say what that is in pounds. No WAY. And this is all so I can wear a really nice sundress out on a date with Eric.

Speaking of Eric.... he wants to buy World of Warcraft. I won't let him. Let's test and see who reads my blog. Should Eric buy World of Warcraft? One of his goals is to get really good grades this semester, I don't think that will happen if he gets this game. Comment! GO!

Off to watch Stargate. Then to sleep.

Back in Florida

Well, technically I came back yesterday, but we won't get into details. I set my room up PERFECTLY. It's CLEAN!! Plus, I brought back a small rug that had been in my room and now it's i my room in Florida. Yay! I even reorganized my closet AND my bookshelf. This was critical seeing as though I brought back a TON of stuff (namely my SCUBA gear and the bag). But yay it worked out in the end.
I just finished with errands including grocery shopping and food for Snyd and last minute school gear. Luckily that only involved notecards and two binders. I did well. Erin came back while I was gone but Cheryl and Gretchen have yet to show up. However, Gretchen's car is mysteriously in the parking lot but she isn't around. Hmmm, a mystery.
Now it's time to feed Snyd and change out his cage for new bedding. I'm sure he'll be happy. Well, the pinkies are scratching at their paper bag. Time to go.

No Sears!!

Today was pleasant. I woke up to get Mom's car by driving her to work, then went back to sleep. I love sleep. Come to find out, several towns in the area were scared by the forthcoming snowstorm and closed school early so ALL my plans had to change. Thus, sleep was cut short :-( and I went out to see the horses in a mad rush. Clyde was again extremely happy to see me. He also tried to sneak the carrots from their hiding spot. Silly boy!
I picked mom up in Ellington and we went to Kohl's to see what kind of deals they had in the clearance racks. I got new gym pants (yay!) and some presents for Eric and my roommates. And yes Eric, your present is a Lacerator. Picked up my pictures from Sam's Club and came home with Mom. Made dinner then finished a book I started today.

Continued working on the scrapbook for Tri-Beta. So many pictures, a stack 2.5 inches high. There is SO much. Anyway, what I've finished looks good and my goal is to get the fall semester part of the scrap book done BEFORE I go back to Florida. Eeeck, big plans! Now I'm talking on the phone with Eric, I'm gonna direct more attention to him now. Over!

Um

well, apparently the program actually did what I told it to do, ignore the last line of the previous post.

One week till classes!

I'm so excited! Classes start in a week, I go back to Florida in less than that and see Eric in about 5 days! Hurray!
I went out to visit Jane Pastel and the horses. Poor Clyde has Lyme disease and hasn't been able to be ridden. Baron had to be put down. He was getting old but I wish I could have seen him one last time. Katie has had a rider apparently and Clyde has been getting jealous. I thought I would make him feel better by brushing him today and hopping on bareback. He enjoyed the fact that I brought him carrots but when we were in the lower pasture he decided that racing around with Katie was much more fun and left me sliding into the mud. Not cool. So now I have mud in my hair, mud down my jeans, mud on my, CLEAN mind you, sweatshirt and pretty much mud everywhere. Now I need to take a good invigorating shower before heading out to my dentist's appointment. Grrr, why do I get cavities now?!? It was enjoyable to clean a stall, very relaxing and therapeautic in my opinion. Did I spell that right? Caught up with Jane on the latest news and filled her in with my summer plans. It was nice.

Well, now being home again, I have put a load of laundry into the wash, of only my muddy clothes and now I am off to take a shower.

Just a note, the time should be 1:32 PM not AM, Blogger is being idiotic.

Happy New Year!

New Year's was awesome. We always have a theme movie night. This year the theme was "Quirky Movies" and man were the movies quirky. My personal favorite was Danny Deckchair. It was set in Australia and was about a construction worker who attached a bunch of helium balloons to his lounge chair and floated away. Those crazy Australians! The other two movies we saw were Pieces of April (I think it's an independent film, very good) and Shoot or be Shot. All definitely fit the quirky bill. Paused the movie viewing to watch the ball drop in NYC, like always. I tried to call Eric, but apparently every other Verizon customer had the same idea and all of the circuits were busy so my cell phone was not working.
I slept blessedly late, and, as expected, Sears called, wanting me to come in to work. Time and a half pay, but I was going to visit my Grandmother in Massachusetts so I respectfully declined. The visit was pleasant but it was clear that she was getting old. We took her out to dinner and then drove back to Connecticut. Now, I'm watching Garden State. hmmm. Well, Happy New Year!
